The government will provide up to $300 for households and $325 for small businesses to offset energy costs in 2024/25. Payment delivery details are being finalized.
The $250 Energy Bill Relief payment was available until 30 June 2024 for eligible concession holders.
Eligibility as of 1 August 2023:
Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
DVA Gold Card (GCH) For All Conditions
Health Care Card (HCC)
These received two $125 instalments automatically.
Or, recipients as of 31 July 2023:
Carer Allowance
Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (SHC)
Family Tax Benefit A and B
These needed to consent with Services Australia by 30 June 2024 for a single $250 payment.
If eligible but didn't receive payment by 30 June 2024, contact your electricity retailer.
The $325 Energy Bill Relief payment for eligible small businesses was available until 30 June 2024.
Eligibility criteria:
Registered on a separate business tariff
Annual electricity use under 40MWh
Eligibility date: 7 August 2023
Retailers should have applied the payment automatically.
Home-based businesses needed separate metering to qualify. Embedded network businesses were ineligible.
If eligible but didn't receive payment, contact your electricity retailer.
Embedded Network households had to apply for the 2023-24 Energy Bill Relief payment by June 30, 2024. Incomplete applications remain open pending eligibility documentation.
